Safety is a core value at PULSE Integration. We believe safety starts in design by considering the technology systems, operators, and maintenance. This is called design for safety. When we design for safety, we are considering the experience of the operators and workers interacting with the technology systems and we are also considering life safety and maintenance aspects. Our design engineers are trained in safe equipment design.

We put the same emphasis on safety during project execution, installation, and commissioning. Our field staff are rigorously trained in OSHA for construction and for operations. We understand the hazards of setting large electrified equipment and the changing hazards of commissioning systems and handing them over to facility operations teams.

The Project Management Office Leads Projects through coordinated management of internal and external resources guided by the PULSE Integration Project Execution Model using best-in-class software applications and standard tools to ensure effective communication internally and externally. Collaboration and transparency are priorities throughout the duration of the project.

Mechanical Installation

  • Mechanical installation of all PULSE-provided equipment and vendor equipment

  • Installation to be performed in adherence to the agreed-upon project schedule

Electrical Installation

  • Electrical code compliance

  • Installation of this system will be performed to local and national standards

  • Fielded wiring installation from controlds cabinets to PULSE-supplied motors & control devices

Site Management (Supervision)

  • Coordination of on-site activities & installation of all PULSE-provided equipment, subcontractor activity, and start-up efforts

  • Coordination also consists of any ongoing operations with clients and PULSE project teams

Commissioning, Testing, and Quality

Commissioning starts during the quality inspection phase for equipment. Commissioning also starts during the requirements definition phase for software and enterprise integrations. PULSE follows a 14-step commissioning process that includes early testing and inspection, rate testing, exceptions testing, scale-up, and ultimately entire system functioning as an integrated system. Our final integration testing confirms the operation of the system using the owner’s operators, maintenance staff, IT infrastructure, and enterprise system (ERP).

Below are some screenshots from CxAlloy, a cloud-based commissioning tool used by PULSE Integration. We have a library of pre-built test scripts and inspection reports for most types of automation and software. We customer the reports and dashboard for the needs of each project. We can share the dashboards and open issues lists with clients so that everyone on the team has real-time access to the progress of commissioning and visibility to critical items.

Test

Description

Internal Test

Testing by individual parties, not integrated with other systems.

Interface Test

Independent object testing across parties, not testing functionaligy; validating messages across source and target systems; validating configuration and data mapping.

Functional Integration Test

Internal and Interface Tests, plus testing all functionality and end-to-end process flow.

Equipment Test (FAT)

Performed on- or off-site. Mechanical and electrical functionality is as indented/procured by client (mostly mechanical, maybe electrical).

Performance Test

Test ensuring software can handle the requested volumes and system performance.

Regression Test

Ensuring that the new changes implemented do not adversely affect the existing working code.

Software UAT

Confirmed user acceptance on solution (limited to software solution).

Pre-Commissioning

Verification that equipment and facilities grouped together in circuits are construction complete per the drawings, specifications, and codes and are ready for Commissioning. 

Commissioning

Functional verification of equipment and facilities grouped together in circuits. Performed with IT and Operators (Project signs off).

System Acceptance Testing

Confirmed user acceptance on individual solution (software and equipment) (Site/Operations signs off).

Start Up / Controlled Start

Production start. Intent to produce finished goods.

Performance Guaranty

Verification of contractual obligations that systems perform as defined and procured by client.

Scale Up

Functional teams producing through production ramp up.

Site Acceptance Testing

Confirmed user acceptance on solution (software and equipment) (Site/Operations signs off).

iAuditor

Shown here is a screenshot of our safety tracking software, iAuditor. We have standard safety inspections and dashboards that are updated for the unique aspects of each project. We can also share our iAuditor account access with clients so that our clients have real-time access to safety information, alerts, and open issues.
